While Sunday evening's Mardi Gras was an incredibly hard act to follow, Monday night's Jam Session certainly gave it a run for its money. Richard Taylor led the "core" band on bass, with Tom Hebenstreit on lead guitar, Ben Green playing drums, Bob Branciforte on rhythm guitar, and Nik Johnson tickling the ivories. Audience participation was heavy with, among many others, Mark Bennett, Mike Hanson, Pierre Tremblay and Tom Moseley. (Apologies to those whose names I've omitted - I was having WAY too much fun to keep accurate records).
The group played mostly rock and roll, with occasional forays into blues and country. The highlight of the evening came when Bruce Barrington came forward, acoustic guitar in hand, and favored the audience with a passable rendition of "Country Roads" followed by "(You Picked A Fine Time To Leave Me) Lucille". And then, as if that weren't enough, he led the group in a hilarious version of "There's a Hole In The Bottom Of The Sea". Way to jam, Bruce.
