Announcing DevCon 1998
Just four months away, it's time to start thinking about attending the most exciting conference of the year - DevCon 1998!
The conference will be held at the Marina Marriott (17th Street Causeway) in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, September 28-30, 1998. For those of you who attended last year, you know how fun Ft. Lauderdale is. And, for those of you who were unable to attend, well, you'll want to make sure you don't miss the excitement two years in a row.

Clarion 4 and OOP One Year Later - Interludes and Examinations A collection of Application Tips, Tricks, and Techniques
Presented by "TopSpeed Technical Services"
Pre-Requisites: A working knowledge of the Clarion 4 IDE and a good familiarity with the Clarion language is recommended.
This seminar will take a look at a wide variety of development tips, tricks and techniques in Clarion 4 that have been created and implemented by the experienced consultants of TopSpeed. A "case-study" approach will be used, beginning with a programming task, a discussion of the possible OOP oriented solutions that were proposed, and finally, the actual implementation and solution to the programming problem. Some of the techniques and areas to be explored will be:
Database design tips - Planning a large application - Project management - Designing a user-friendly interface - Customizing Browse Procedures - Customizing Reports - Interfacing with the Windows API - Deriving classes from the ABC templates - Managing data integrity - Merging templates and custom source code - and many more!
Several members of the TopSpeed Consultant staff will present topics that are their "forte". This new presentation approach to our TopSpeed seminars will give attendees the maximum exposure to a variety of solid development styles.
A seminar handbook will be provided with complete explanations and illustrations of all topics presented. Several source code and application samples will also be provided.

DevCon 1998 Keynote Speaker
We are excited to announce this year's DevCon keynote speaker - Mr. Edward E. Iacobucci - Citrix chairman, chief technical officer and vice president of strategy and technology. Under Iacobucci's leadership, Citrix has become a leading software company by delivering on his original vision of thin-client/server computing. Before founding Citrix in 1989, Iacobucci worked at IBM for 11 years, where he was responsible for the design and architecture of operating systems for the IBM Personal Computer Division. During that time, Iacobucci headed the joint IBM-Microsoft design team that developed the original OS/2 operating system. At IBM, Iacobucci was also responsible for the design and architecture of the NetView network management product. A prominent system software and networking expert, Iacobucci authored the well-known OS/2 Programmer's Guide.
