TopSpeed® Corporation, a leading supplier of rapid application development and deployment tools for Web and multi-tier platforms, today announced the promotion of Roy Rafalco to Chief Executive Officer. Rafalco will continue in his role as president, a position he has held for five years. TopSpeed founder Bruce Barrington will remain as Chairman of the Board.
Effective January 1, 1999, the promotion will enable Barrington
to sharpen focus on his active role in directing technology
development and strategy for TopSpeed's family of Clarion™
software tools. "This change represents the validation of what has
become a defacto structure over the last year or so," Barrington
states. "Roy has done a superb job of quietly engineering the
resurgence of TopSpeed. For my part," he continues, "I am excited
about the opportunity to turn my energy full-time onto product
strategy, direction, and development."
Rafalco joined TopSpeed in 1992 as Chief Financial Officer. In
mid-1993, he took over the company's reins as President and Chief
Operating Officer. In this capacity, he has overseen and directed
all ongoing domestic and international operations including
finance, customer service, sales and marketing activities.
Rafalco brings more than two decades of management experience
across multiple industry sectors to his new position as TopSpeed's
Chief Executive Officer. His background includes a variety of
management positions with Payne Fabrics, Inc., an international
fabrics and wall coverings wholesaler, RCA/GE Consumer Electronics,
and the City of Indianapolis. He is a Certified Public Accountant
and a member of the Indiana bar, and holds BS and JD degrees from
Indiana University.
TopSpeed Corporation (www.topspeed.com) has been
